lesions: Also called sores, an area of damaged tissue that is often caused by infection or autoimmune activity.

malignant growth: A growth of cancerous cells, also called a tumor.

metastasis: The process in which cancer cells migrate and spread from their original growth site to new tissues, usually through the bloodstream or lymph system.

obesity: Obesity is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 30.0 to 39.9, while morbid obesity is defined as a BMI of 40.0 or higher. Obesity may increase the risk of developing cervical cancer.

oral contraceptive: A type of drug used to prevent pregnancies.
