Unprotected Sex

I recently had unprotected sex (spare me the lecturesl; I know). Then I found out that she has cervical cancer. Can I contract cancer too?

Of course you're concerned, and I hope you'll take this seriously with regard to future encounters. (Forgive the lecture.)

Cervical cancer is usually caused by a sexually transmitted disease, which means you may have been exposed to something that you can pass along. You may not have symptoms but may see genital warts appear. To date, there are no tests for guys with suspected HPV (human papillomavirus) other than checking for the appearance warts. Nor is there is a cure. You won't get cervical cancer from your friend, but you could certainly be at risk for other cancers if you do develop HPV. You need to visit a doctor who can put your mind at ease and instruct you on how to prevent spreading HPV--if you have it. While you're at it, get some pointers on safe sex.
